I am yarn crazy! I love to crochet and knit and I really enjoy trying a new yarn. I occasionally come up with original designs and I feel that it is great that I don't always know where the yarn and my tools will take me!

Wee Tiny Socks...lots of wee tiny socks!

I just posted a picture of some of the Wee Tiny Socks that I have been making.  One of my sisters-in-law (not the one that I am making the never finished afghan for) asked if I could help her make theses socks, which are to become keychains for baby shower favors.  I agreed to do it and they have become a delightful diversion from what I should be working on (i.e. the afore mentioned afghan).

I love working on small projects because they are completed so quickly instead of dragging on forever.  Then I can quickly move on to the next project, and there is always a list of next projects.  My ravelry site has a long queue of future projects.  I wish my hands would cooperate and let me knit or crochet faster and without pain.  Oh well, I'm not getting any socks made here so ta-ta for now!

I completed my first Sweet Sweater

I posted the photo of my first Sweet Sweater in an album.  The Sweet Sweater is found at:  http://www.crochetme.com/sweet .

I made it with Caron One Pound yarn in Azure and Cape Cod Blue using and I, J, K, and L hooks.  The pattern doesn't call for a particular hook size, and I decided to change hook sizes at intervals to provide subtle shaping for bust, waist, and alot of increase for my not so subtle hips!

I will definitely be making more of these in lighter weight yarns and I am going to try to change the pattern to be a cardigan too, perhaps add a collar.  I highly recommend this pattern for everyone, no matter what size you are or what level you crochet at.

On a different note

I have re-learned to stand up for myself.  Let me explain.  I requested a rate quote for the Extra Innings Package from my local cable provider (who will for now remain nameless) and was promised the early-bird low rate with 4 installments to pay for it.  So I ordered it.  Then I received my cable bill and I was charged for the whole thing at once!  I figured anyone can make a mistake so I called the company to get the billing corrected.  The Rep. told me that she didn't have the ability to make the correction so she would put in an order to have it corrected, gave me a reference number and told me that in the next 24-48 hours someone would be in touch with me.  That was on Monday (4-21-08).  On Friday (4-25-08) I hadn't heard from anyone so I called the company and gave the new rep. the reference number.  She told me that the work order had been closed and that it was impossible to change the billing so I would have to pay it the way it is.  I told her that I couldn't afford so much all at once and she said that they will cancel the service and I could pay for just the service used.  I told her to wait and I will see what I can do.  I thought about it over the weekend and got very mad because I wouldn't have ordered the service if I hadn't been misled.  So, Monday (4-28-08) I went online and filled out a Better Business Bureau complaint but didn't send it.  I called the company and told them what I was going to do and suddenly they could give me the service for half price!  DON'T EVER LET THEM TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOU!  GET MAD!!!  Phew, I feel better now.

Busy, busy, busy

Wow, have I become a much busier crafter.  I usually try to keep my concurrent projects to just 2 at a time, but now I am way over that limit.  I am still working on the Tunisian moose afghan for my sister-in-law, I promise I am!!!

Also, I am in a CAL in my plus-sized crochet yahoo group.  We are making the Sweet Sweater and I am about 3/4 done.  The Sweet Sweater is created with more of a formula than a strict pattern, thus it can be customized for anyone at any size!

At the same time, I am working on the 2008 Thread Challenge to create a miniature bear and its little doll.  This is only the second miniature bear I have done, so I can't believe I am doing it in a contest...LOL!

Finally, I think finally, my sister-in-law, no not the one I am making the afghan for, asked me to help knit teeny-tiny socks to be made into key chains for a baby shower.  They are quick to knit so it is a great project to use to take a break from other stuff.

Well, all the time I am working on this stuff, my future project list is growing and growing.

Earth Week

I have reclaimed my first yarn.  I have been considering doing this for some time, but not sure how.  I found a tutorial link that shows how to unravel a sweater for the purpose of reusing the yarn (and there is a wonderful thrifty knitters group in Ravelry).  My mother gave me an old sweater to try it with.  It was rather tedious, but very rewarding.  I now have the lovely yarn and I am considering my options on how to use it.  I highly recommend the process to everyone who wants to save some money or save the earth.  It is the fiber artists way to give back!

New medication miracle!

I have a new medication in my routine and it is a miracle drug!  I haven't been producing as much as I would like for a while lately and it is not all due to my arthritis.  I have been suffering from RLS (restless leg syndrome) for years, but resisting taking more medications.  I feel like I have too many medications in my life already, but the lack of sleep was becoming so chronic and debilitating that I had no choice but to ask for help.  I have been taking Mirapex for 3 days now and I feel like a new person already! Party  I wish every medication that was prescribed for me worked so efficiently.  Ultimately, I hope that this means that I will be able to get more projects done and thus keep the yarn industry in good economic condition all by myself...LOL!  (BTW, this is Ray's greatest fear!Wink)  I'll get back to you soon, but now I have to get to work.  Sooo much yarn and so little time!
